Hello and much for you all about the Andals. Following our recent look at the First Men, we continue with our focus of the ethnic groups of Westeros to consider the second mass migration from

Esos and by the way if you haven't heard the First Men episode don't worry as

this episode will stand alone fine. And so to start we'll consider the origins of

the Andals all the way back thousands of years ago when they first settled in the

axe in northwestern Essos and founded their home region of Andalos.

We'll consider the political situation at the time.

First the Andals had to oppose the Harrymen, cousins of the Ibanez,

then keep peace with their neighbors of the Roynar.

That peace though was shattered when the Valerians harnessed dragons in their meteoric rise to

power.

Next we'll look at Andal culture.

While the first men were scraping ruins into rocks,

the Andals were mastering, reading and writing,

so would consider what impact being lettered had and what advantages that gave them.

We'll also talk about their religion, the Faith of the Seven,

explore why it's such a popular belief system amongst small folk and lords alike.

What is it about the seven that makes it such a relatable faith?

Then we'll take a detailed look at an era that changed Westorosi history forever, the Andal

invasion. While the first men defended their territory with bronze weapons, the Andals were

wielding iron, steel, and even Valerian steel.
