The Children of the Forest.

Spoils are books. Hello and welcome to another episode of Radio Westeros. I'm one of your host

Yoke Boy and with me as always is Lady Gwen. Yeah, hi everyone and thanks for

joining us today. Following our recent episodes on

Dragons and the others today will be concluding our look at a song of Ice and

Fire's mysterious species with this new episode all about the Children of the Forest,

skin changers, and green seers.

And we want to begin with a word about language

and the naming of this fascinating species.

We're well aware that Children of the forest is the name given to them by human

invaders into their territory and that their name for themselves, roughly translated from

the true tongue, which no human can speak, is those who sing the song of Earth.

In fact, in a Dance with Dragons, once Brian is informed of what they call themselves,

he gradually stops referring to them as children and picks up their preferred terminology, the singers.

Perhaps in future installments like Bran, the people of Westeros, will also learn to use the singers.

But as this is fiction and children of the forest is the name

which readers and listeners will commonly recognize and use, and since all of the histories and

lessons that form the source material in quotes we use in this

episode use that human terminology we've decided to hue to the name George uses

most on page in order to avoid confusion.

So today we'll begin by considering who the children of the forest are
