Hello and welcome to another episode of Radio Estros, I'm Lady Guinevere. And I'm Yoke Boy.

As many of you know,

Radio Estuas began with an analysis of Aya's Mercy Chapter

from the Winds of Winter. We've come along with of format since. But we haven't returned to a dedicated Aya analysis until now. As a major POV

character, Aya was identified by George as one of the five key characters in his original song of ice and fire

outline from 1993 and is the only P.O. V. to have chapters in all five books.

Long popular with fans, she's also known to be George's wife Paris' favorite

character. Iya Stark looms large in a song of ice and fire, and it's high time we return to her story.

When discussing Aria Stark, some people might think of a hero's journey, and in fact, we discuss the broad strokes of her journey and how it fits and might continue to fit that basic format in our

heroes episode. But identity, a theme we focused on in our Mercy episode, is also a major theme

for Aria, along with a desire to belong, the unfairness of life in general, and gender roles specifically, and a keen desire to learn from the world around her as shown by her tendencies to explore and

her pension for making friends with her father's men and small folk and

fostered by her status as an outsider or observer in many situations.

So many factors combine to make up the character of Aya Stark.

But one thing we will not forget is that at the beginning of the Game of Thrones, Aya is a child of nine.

Her cares and concerns are those of a typical child of the nobility and her responses to external

stimuli reflect her youth.

As her arc develops, so too does Aya.

We can observe the misunderstandings and missteps caused by her youth at the same time we chronicle her growth in

knowledge and maturity, much of which is the result of tragic circumstances into which
