Yeah, this is the final part of our occasional series on the Prologues and Epilogues of A Song of Ice and Fire, and we're sure

you'll agree this Merit chapter is a classic.

So to begin, we'll discuss our unlikely point of view as we consider who is Merritt Frey.

Next we'll take a deep dive into the chapter itself in a walk-through style, leaving no stone

unturned. How does George build tension before the jaw-dropping

stone heart reveal? Perhaps the biggest twist in the series to date. Stay tuned

to find out. From there we'll discuss the meta-purpose of the epilogue,

as well as highlighting all of those instances of foreshadowing

throughout the first three novels that prefigured Catlin's resurrection, where we'll see hints stretching as far back as the early pages of a Game of Thrones.
