and today we're bringing you the first of two episodes on Rob Stark.

Some of you may have been expecting a single episode on this character, but similar to what

happened when we worked with another non-POV character, Peter Balish, once we had our outline and a great deal of writing was done, it became very clear to us that we had two episodes worth of analysis to share with you.

Yes, so we decided to split the Rob episode into two episodes, which makes sense because

despite not having designated point of view chapters, Rob Stark is a major character in a song of ice and fire.

In fact, he's the most often mentioned character not to have their own point of view

ahead of Stannis and Joffrey.

And making our Rob analysis two episodes

had the really positive effect of also allowing us

to look more deeply at a few ideas and theories we might have had to skip or kind of

rushed through otherwise so it's been really good for us so starting with this

episode we'll explore Rob's youth and upbringing, his relationships

with his family members, most of whom are major POV characters, and the very important theme of Boy versus Man that we see in Rob early on.

And speaking of which we'll also look at Rob as the Stark and Winterfell and how he came to be leading

the Northern Army in his father's absence.

We'll bring his March south and his arc right up to the moment when he is declared, King in the North and his grandfather's hall at River Run, and then finally turn our attention to the history of the Kings in the North, the Starks and Winterfell itself.
