Hello and welcome to another episode of Radio Estros.

I'm Lady Guinevere in Boston and with me as always is Yoke Boy.

Yeah, hi and I'm podcasting from England.

And today we have an episode all about prophecies and the mysterious characters who make them.

Yeah, there are heaps of prophecies in these books. George uses them time and again as a literary device,

and we'll be looking closely at what they might mean and what they could tell us

about the future of the story.

And that's one of the purposes of prophecies in the books.

If the reader can interpret them correctly, they might get a glimpse of the future.

This creates intrigue, depth, and excitement as fans puzzle over them.

And in universe, prophecies can dramatically affect the plot

as characters interpret or rather misinterpret them

and so the plot can be driven by these misinterpretations.

Good examples of this are Mela Sandra, believing Stannis is Azorhi,

and Circe seeming to push the Valenclar prophecy possibly towards self-fulfillment.

And so we've covered the Valenquire in our Jamie and Serse episode, but still today we have an episode packed with

prophecy. And usually we like to theorize a bit

but today we're going to let our hair down and really get into crackpot and

tin foil foil mode this is what prophecies are all about. George is really

encouraging the reader to formulate crackpot theories with the cryptic and puzzling way he writes a lot of them, not to mention the mysteriousness of some of the characters that deliver them.
