Yeah, hello there and welcome.

After the briefest of mentions in A Storm of Swords,

George R.A. Martin fully introduced Damon Blackfire's rebellion to readers in his

novella, The Sworn Sword, in 2003. Since then, he's backfilled a tremendous amount of history

related not only to Damon and his rebellion, but to the generations-long struggle between

his descendants and their cousins of House Targaryen that followed.

And thanks to all that world-building, we're happy to bring you this episode, the first in a

series, all about the Blackfire Rebellions. We'll begin with the historical background of the

Blackfire era, specifically the reign of Aon the 4th known as the Unworthy.

How did Agon's unworthiness lead directly to a civil war between his legitimate son and his

illegitimate children? And did Agon intentionally blow up his family's legacy by legitimizing all of his formerly bastard

children on his deathbed.

Then we'll look at the reign of Dairon the second, Agon's son, who quickly became known as

Dair on the good. But in spite of many good qualities, what, or perhaps more pertinently, who led his much younger half-brother

Damon to rise in rebellion against him.

Next up, we'll cover the rebellion itself, with a complete rundown of the main players and who

fought for which side and why, leading up to a complete analysis of the famous

decisive battle of the rebellion, the battle of the red grass field.
