Broadcasting behind enemy lines tonight's episode

Elder Snow goes rogue.

On August 7th, 2019, Elder Stephen Snow,

the head of the LDS Church History Department,

appeared on the Salt Lake Tribune podcast titled Mormon Land,

where he was interviewed by two reporters for the Salt Lake Tribune.

Since 2012, Elder Snow has been the Church historian.

He took over that role from former Church historian Elder Marlon Jensen.

The reason this episode is titled Elder Snow goes rogue is because during the course of this interview

he said a number of things that surprised listeners he seemed to be more candid than one would normally expect a church historian and general authority

to be.

Part of that may be owing to the skill with which the reporters put Elder Snow at his ease during

the first approximately five minutes of the interview

where they talked to him about various innocuous things such as where he got his middle

name from.

His middle name is Erastus.

It is Elder Stephen Erastus Snow, and also his acquaintance

and relationship with Elder Marlin Jensen.

Another thing that may have led to Elder Snow's unprecedented openness and candor during this interview may have to do

with the fact that he is just about to go out to pasture.
