This podcast is part two of the podcast that I did recently called Borrowed Robes.

In that podcast, I went over the paper recently published in the book producing ancient scripture the paper that was authored by

Haley Wilson Lamon and Professor Thomas Weymouth of BYU in that paper they set forth

17 different examples of how it is that Joseph In that

Joseph Smith, in producing his Joseph Smith translation

relied heavily upon a famous and learned Bible commentary of his day called the Adam Clark Bible commentary.

The reason this is part two is because this paper does more than just list the evidence

for the 17 different examples of dependence of the Joseph Smith

translation on the Adam Clark Bible commentary, it goes on to provide an apologetic of sorts as to how it is that now that they proved Joseph Smith's reliance on the

Adam Clark Bible commentary for his inspiration for his translation, why that

should not, repeat not, be an impediment to the faith of Latter-day Saints.

Instead, they simply have to reconceive their idea of what it was Joseph Smith meant by the word

translation.

In other words, in spite of the fact that Joseph Smith said

he was doing this translation by inspiration of God

and he called it a translation over and over again,

that the use of the word translation must now perforce be expanded

to encompass the idea of Joseph Smith consulting learned Bible commentaries in the process.
