Broadcasting behind enemy lines tonight's episode new evidence for The Book of Mormon

In 1978 when I joined the church at the age of 18

I read the Book of Mormon through from cover to cover

and I prayed my way through every page. I received what I consider to be an

unmistakable witness from the spirit that the Book of Mormon is of divine origin. And perhaps

on another podcast I'll tell you more about that experience.

But since that time, I have spent the past 40 years studying the Book of Mormon

cover to cover in various editions. I have read it in excess of 20 times.

It's actually probably closer to 30 times now, but I stop counting at 20 because really,

what's the point after you get to 20 times?

I have published articles regarding

the Book of Mormon in different venues including the Journal of Book of Mormon Studies

put out by Farms back in the 1990s and I have also published on the issue in

BYU studies but I have to be honest that as I have studied the book of

Mormon one thing has stood out to me and that is that it bears many marks that it is a product of early 19th century America.

It is clear that the Book of Mormon was produced at the time and place that it came off the press in upstate New York in 1830.

Among those marks of modernity include lengthy quotations from the King James version of the Bible in the Book of Mormon.

This would have been a hard thing to pull off before the King James Version appeared in 1611 in England.

Isaiah is quoted most extensively, not only what scholars now call first Isaiah, but also

second Isaiah.
