Tonight's episode, The Miracle Making of President Nelson.

One of the core tenets of Mormonism is that God's intimate dealings with the children

of men are not restricted only to Old Testament times or even to New Testament times, but that

they continue unabated today, and specifically, they continue within the Church of Jesus Christ

of Latter-day Saints.

God continues to directly reveal his will not only to the leadership of the Church, but

also to the individual members.

Contrary to the words of Paul Simon, God only knows God makes his plan, the information

is available to the mortal man.

And not only does God continue to reveal his will from heaven, not only in the then and

there, but in the here and now, other assorted and various miracles also continue to manifest

themselves by God's power within the LDS Church.

Because of this cornerstone of Mormonism that miracles continue to occur today, there

is a tendency among members of the Church and even among its leadership to take ordinary

pedestrian, everyday kinds of events, and cloak them with a patina of the miraculous.

I remember one example of this happened not long after I joined the Church back in 1978.

At that point, I didn't know much about the LDS Church.

All I knew was that it was 16, it was beautiful, and it was mine.

And what made it so beautiful was that it was true.
