broadcasting behind enemy lines tonight's episode part two of the Pharisee phenomenon.

In part one, we talked about what constitutes a Pharisee.

We talked about the Pharisees in Jesus' day,

the fact that the Pharisees were the one group of people that Jesus

absolutely could not abide and how he called them out publicly and repeatedly on what

he saw as their self-righteousness,

their over-focus on the minutia

and the outward performances of their religion,

and that they use their religion

in order to marginalize and look down on and judge

those that they considered less than, those that they labeled as sinners, and that

whereas Jesus was very kind and loving and supportive to those that the Pharisee saw as sinners,

he did not have the same feelings towards the Pharisees.

I then told several stories of my own experience in the church in which I encountered different degrees and elements of Phariseism,

and also some stories where I encountered exactly the opposite.

We then began looking at different examples of Phariseism in the leadership of the

LDS Church. The first two things that we talked about at that

the time were number one the large plush seats that the general authorities sit in at

general conference and we compared that to when Jesus called out the

Pharisees for loving the chief seats at the synagogues and how that was not a good thing in Jesus's book.
