Welcome to the podcast. My name is Douglas Wilson. This is episode 386, 386 of the podcast, not just any old podcast. This is the podcast. So I want to talk in this opening segment about what might be called racism metrics, racism metrics.

It has been well said, accurately said, that you don't need to choose up sides in an ethnic

war because the other side does that for you.

Or another way of putting it is the conditions on the ground or the situation out in the street

in the middle of a riot if a if an ethnic riot is going on you can't just waltz in there and say well

i've got my own opinions and i don't agree with either one of these,

either one of these sides where they're combating each other, keeping bricks at each other,

and Molotov cocktails. And since I've got a third way, I've got, I've got the third way worked out in my mind, I can just stroll through the riot. No, you won't be able to stroll

through the riot because everybody there

is operating on a different set of assumptions and they take one look at you and they know

how to categorize you. Now, you might think it's unfair and unjust and unreasonable for them to do

this, but they're going to do it anyway. You don't really have control of the interpretive

grid that surrounds you. It has been well said that if there are 12 circus clowns cavorting and

doing their thing, you could jump down there and start quoting Shakespeare in your best manner, but to the audience, you're just a 13th clown.

You don't have enough horsepower to control the context.

Now, that means that your third way, the third way that you've got worked out in your head might be, I'm a citizen of the

world. I'm neither black nor white. I'm neither Asian nor Native American. I'm, I am a citizen

of the world. You can think those pure thoughts in your head. You can think pure globalist

thoughts in your head. But if you walk through the riot,

everybody there assigns aside to you. Or you might go the other direction. You might say,

I'm not, I don't think of myself as white. I'm Scottish, right? You might drill down away from

sort of the quasi-pho scientific categorization of white, black.
