Author Tracye McQuirter details the nutritional challenges facing the community that correlate to a socio-economic divide. Tracye also highlights the rich history of African Americans and plant-based diets and the 10,000 Black Vegan Women initiative..
Then, at a time when black Americans are being diagnosed with chronic health conditions at alarming rates higher than other races, Brooklyn borough president Eric Adams is defying the odds to chart his own course for a healthier life. Eric was beginning to lose his vision and experiencing nerve damage when he was diagnosed with diabetes.
Despite the grim circumstances, he would not accept failing health and an early grave as his fate. Instead, he overhauled his diet and lifestyle to reverse his diabetes. Today, he is inspiring thousands to follow of others who feel trapped to follow in his footsteps and live the healthier life they've always imagined.

| 0:45.4 | He's the Barrow President of the Barrow of Brooklyn. |

| 0:56.1 | to the heart of the protest in Brooklyn |
| 0:58.0 | over the murder of George Floyd, I reflected on the pain I felt for him. |

| 1:06.8 | as we watch countless black people across the country fall victim |
