First story, as well as talking about the budget,

we are going to be talking actually about potentially something more significant.

I think if there was a policy that's going to go down in the history books this week, it's not

anything in the budget.

It is the plans to get rid of jewellries for nearly all trials, which is a sort of change from

sort of eight centuries of British precedent, much more fundamental than anything that

was in the budget.

And we'll also talk about the Palestine action case, which is being heard by the High Court.

It's not a juryless trial. It's a judge-led hearing, I suppose.

The lead up to the 2025 budget has been long and torturous.

There have been weeks and months of leaks and U-turns, which made the cock-up late this morning

even harder to swallow for Rachel Reeves.

That was because at around 11.30, an hour before the Chancellor was due to stand up and

deliver her long-awaited budget, which she'd spent, oh, so long writing. The OBR published it by

accident. They just put it out on their website an hour ahead, her budget. Very annoying for her.
