Summary

Back in March of 2008, 30-year-old Rachel Conger had recently split up with her husband, Paul. Rachel and her daughter, Amber, moved to a new home in Como, TN. Rachel borrowed a truck from a friend so she could move some furniture to her new place. On the evening of March 12, 2008, Rachel told her daughter that Paul was coming to stay the night. She said he was off his medication and not acting right. Rachel told Amber that she was trying to keep him calm. She warned her daughter that if anything happened, for her to climb out the window and call for help. Rachel’s daughter went to bed that night and when she woke up the following morning, her mom and Paul were gone.

If you have any information about the disappearance of Rachel Conger, you are urged to call the Henry County Sheriff’s Office at 731-642-1672.

Rachel is probably one of the most amazing people that I've ever met. I thought about it over and over in my head how I would say it.

It didn't just sound like you know the cheesy typical answer, but if you knew her that's literally the only way that you can describe her.

She was almost like what you picture a southern belle to be. She's very country, very cutesy. Weed always had a smile on her face. She just always looked really happy all the time. She was just awesome.

I got a phone call. I remember by a mutual friend of ours, her name is Terry. She said, have you seen her talk to Rachel? I remember telling no I hadn't talked to her in the past.

But they said that Amber, her daughter woke up and she wasn't there. I didn't even go any further. I was like, we need to call the police because she would never just drop her daughter in the middle of the night without telling anybody.

1:31.0

Like that was just not who she was. She always put anything that she did was for Amber, anything she did. So to me something was wrong now.

So we tried to call the police and they told us that somebody had been missing for 48 hours to be able to put in a police report.

I don't think a lot of people believed her in what she was going through. So sometimes I feel like I even have a little bit of guilt because I feel like there's something I could have done or what should I have done?

Hello, I'm Hannah and I'm Syruti and we are the hosts of A Red Handed, a weekly True Crime Podcast.

3:31.0

Every week on Red Handed, we get stuck into the most talked about cases. From the Idaho student killings, the Delphine murders and our recent rundown of The Murdoch's Arga.

3:40.0

Last year, we also started a second weekly show, Short Hand, which is just an excuse for us to talk about anything we find interesting because it's our show and we can do what we like.

3:48.0

We've covered the death of Princess Diana, an unholy Quran written in Saddam Hussein's blood, the gruesome history of European witch hunting, and the very uncomfortable phenomenon of genetic sexual attraction.

Whatever the case, we want to know what pushes people to the extremes of human behavior. Like, can someone give consent to be cannibalized? What drives a child to kill? And what's the psychology of a terrorist?

She was a child. She was little, small, black because her dad was quite a bit older. I knew that he wouldn't live longer than a serious girl.

So I kindly pushed her to interact with him. And she did it. They had a great time together. She was starting with her dad. But she was into everything to the tomboy right by breaking her thumb.
