A hasidic rabbi and psychiatrist who championed treatment for substance abuse and was the author of more than 80 books on subjects both spiritual and scientific.
He inspired people for decades as one of this generation’s most eminent psychiatrists, focusing on the area of self-improvement. A rabbi and frequent lecturer on a broad range of topics including spirituality and self-esteem, he was the author of many books including Waking Up Just in Time and The Spiritual Self: Getting Up When You’re Down.
He was the founder and medical director emeritus of Gateway Rehabilitation Center.
In this episode, we sat down with his grandchildren, Chaim Twerski & Chaya Ruchie Waldman, as well as a recovering addict named Judah.

1:03.1 | He was super mental health savvy. |
1:05.6 | But when it came to tech, he wasn't as savvy as maybe not him myself, |
1:10.5 | but he was actually pretty savvy for someone as age. |
1:13.0 | Either way, we were on the phone with him, |
1:16.4 | kind of trying to direct him through the process of putting the zoom on. |
1:24.6 | And we even got our editors truly on the phone as well. |
1:28.2 | And I was talking to him and he couldn't hear me. |
1:31.1 | And and his wife wasn't sure where the plug was where we could put in headphones. |
1:37.0 | And at the end of the day, as you probably could realize, we couldn't do the episode with him. |
