He inspired people for decades as one of this generation’s most eminent psychiatrists, focusing on the area of self-improvement. A rabbi and frequent lecturer on a broad range of topics including spirituality and self-esteem, he was the author of many books including Waking Up Just in Time and The Spiritual Self: Getting Up When You’re Down.
He was the founder and medical director emeritus of Gateway Rehabilitation Center.

In this episode, we sat down with his grandchildren, Chaim Twerski & Chaya Ruchie Waldman, as well as a recovering addict named Judah.

0:05.5	And this episode has been the longest wait that we've done for any episode, right?
0:11.8	We show this a year ago. Yeah, a little less, but okay.
0:17.4	So I've been waiting to say the story.
0:20.5	We got in touch with Robby, Dr. Abraham Torsky, all of a shalom.
0:25.4	And he was, he was ready to do the episode with us.
0:30.7	And it was the height of COVID or maybe right after the height of COVID.
0:36.2	And he didn't want anyone coming into his home.
0:39.3	He's there with his wife and I don't know, they're very elderly and being very cautious.
0:46.5	Fine. So the only way we could have done the episode was through zoom, which we were ready to do.
0:51.6	The problem is Robby Torsky had a bit of a hearing, hearing loss.
0:57.0	So he needed to wear headphones while we did it.
1:00.5	The problem was he wasn't so tech savvy.
1:03.1	He was super mental health savvy.
1:05.6	But when it came to tech, he wasn't as savvy as maybe not him myself,
1:10.5	but he was actually pretty savvy for someone as age.
1:13.0	Either way, we were on the phone with him,
1:16.4	kind of trying to direct him through the process of putting the zoom on.
1:24.6	And we even got our editors truly on the phone as well.
1:28.2	And I was talking to him and he couldn't hear me.
1:31.1	And and his wife wasn't sure where the plug was where we could put in headphones.
1:37.0	And at the end of the day, as you probably could realize, we couldn't do the episode with him.
