The All right, so I'm going to begin with the presupposition that everybody knows that this is where the Dead Sea Scrolls were found.

It was inhabited this place by monastic Essenes who hid the scriptures from the advancing Roman forces in 68 AD so almost

2,000 years ago then you fast forward and the Dead Sea Scrolls as they would come to

be called were discovered in 1947 very interesting the year

before statehood 1947 by a Bedouin shepherd they're on display at the shrine of

the book as part of the Israel Museum in Jerusalem which which we're hoping to get to visit.

And I wanted to, at this location, talk about what I think is the lesson from Qumran,

and that is, namely, a reminder that God's Word endures forever.

In Isaiah chapter 40, verses 8 and 9, it says,

The grass withers and the flowers fall,

but the Word of our God endures forever.

In Matthew 24, verse verse 35 Jesus said this, heaven and earth will pass away but my words will never pass away. And again in

Isaiah chapter 55 verses 10 and 11 says as the rain and the snow come down from heaven and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater and flies for the face.
