Hello, good afternoon. Happy Feast of St. James the Greater, the one who is brought to Spain and

after whom the Camino is named, where thousands of people now walk in his honor for the glory of Jesus Christ.

This is Father David Nix, Padre Peter Grinoino podcast, and just a couple thoughts for you today.

You know, yesterday I was reading the Desert Fathers, and it hit me how very infrequently St. Anthony in the Desert actually went to Holy Mass, probably very infrequently.

We know that St. Mary of the Desert went to Mass very, very infrequently.

I think she received Holy Communion twice in 50 years. We won't go down that rabbit hole of the Sunday

obligation and how they got around that in the East and really what that meant.

But what hit me yesterday was St. Anthony of the Desert was able to live at the very highest levels of the prayer

life with only baptism and presumably receiving confession once or twice in his life and

Holy Communion several times before fleeing to the desert. And then today at Mass,

I want you to hear I was at Mass when this thought came to me so you don't think this is like an anti-sacrmental video that I'm making.

But at Mass of St. James today, I started thinking of St. Maximilian Colby.

And you know, St. Maximilian Colby, when he was taken to Auschwitz, he was clearly not given bread and wine by the Nazis.

He had to live his spiritual life as best he could without bread and wine at his hands to turn

into the body and blood of Jesus. And so I'm calling this video the opposite of prepping.

Just a quick one right between mass and lunch. You probably hear my oven beeper go off there in a second. I'm calling this the opposite of prepping because the question is,

if the sacraments got totally taken away from you, would you be ready to live in grace?

Could you make it to heaven if you were taken off to the gulag or Auschwitz like St. Maximilian Colby?

Maybe the question, even though he was certainly hearing confessions in Auschwitz,

you know, maybe a question to ask yourself is, could you go a week without mortal sin if you couldn't find a priest?

Could you go a month without mortal sin?

Could you go a whole year without mortal sin if you could not find a priest. Could you go a month without mortal sin? Could you go a whole year without
