Summary

The Heat didn't bring their offense to game 4 of the Eastern Conference Finals and were promptly destroyed by a desperate Celtics team, who evened the series at 2 games a piece. Pete, Mike, and Darius discuss the demolition, focusing on Jimmy Butler's health, Bam's offensive struggles, and the Celtics defensive game plan to limit Miami's half-court offense. Then later, the guys discuss the status of the Lakers coaching search and what they like about Darvin Ham's candidacy.

What do you think about the Laker team now?

0:03.4

You follow the box scores of the games every day?

0:06.0

Just the Lakers.

0:07.3

You're kidding.

0:08.6

That is really a compliment.

0:12.8

I was pleased to see you smile at the top bar show because once the game starts, you have a game face.

0:17.8

You don't smile much out there.

0:20.4

I don't think you have to do things for money anymore. Correct. What's up, Laker fans? Welcome to the Laker Filmroom podcast, brought you by the Blue Wire Podcast Network. I'm Pete, joined by Darius and Mike. And the Eastern Conference Finals continued kind of a peculiar pattern. All four games so far, the winning team has been up by 20 plus, and that happened rather early.

Boston jumped all over the Miami heat, and that game was over pretty quickly.

0:45.7

Mike, you've rightfully brought up, and even in the last pod, kind of your concern about Miami's half-court offense.

0:51.8

And we saw that to start this game.

0:54.0

It was 18 to 1. They scored

0:55.6

one point in the first eight and a half minutes. And there are three things that stand out to me

1:00.5

on that front. Number one, the most important thing in this series is Jimmy Butler's health

1:05.9

in terms of Miami's ability to win it. He does not look like himself. He missed several shots that are

1:11.9

kind of Jimmy Butler shots. And I don't mean to discredit Boston's defense or anything. It's

1:16.0

just he didn't look particularly good. Second, I thought that the way that Boston defended them,

1:22.5

I've been a bit surprised. They've been really relying on their drop coverages. They're so

1:26.1

renowned for their ability to switch. But that's not really how they've defended them. And then third, I think Robert Williams makes a big difference in this series. So this was a game that was over very quickly, Mike. But I think that that overall theme of like Miami's half court offense, do they have enough? I think that kind of reared its ugly head in this game. Yeah, Pete. I was recently told a story about an individual who just really took things seriously.

1:50.3

You're in the goldfarb thing, man.

1:51.6

I swear.

1:53.8

And this guy, I mean, when he would get to a chess board, it was business. Okay, he was not messing
