The Senate confirmed Tulsi Gabbard as director of

national intelligence. And why this matters isn't just that she will now fill an empty cabinet

position that oversees our nation's intel organizations. It's a big job and that matters. But this also

shows that despite a lot of hand-wringing and talking to the press and expressing concern, Republicans

got behind her.

She didn't need a tie-breaking vote by the vice president for approval, for example, like

Secretary of Defense Pete Heggseth. So Republicans seem to be coalescing behind President

Trump's choices. It's also worth a reminder that Tulsi Gabbard is a former Democrat,

who left her party. It is now serving in a Republican administration.

She has that in common with Robert F. Kennedy Jr., also a former Democrat who may be serving

in this administration.

We do expect the Senate to take up his nomination for a final vote this week.
