If there was one plant you could grow,

if there was one plant you could grow that did so much for you, so many different

use cases, it would probably be bamboo.

There are a ton of different species.

There are a ton of different use cases for it.

Like I just mentioned, hedging, planks.

I mean, you can create cloth out of it, you can even eat it when it's young.

So again, there's a million and one reasons to grow it besides its beauty and besides the

pure intrigue of growing this plant.

So let's talk a little bit about it.

Now, I've planted bamboo mostly in containers

because of its propensity to spread.

So if you were to go to the nursery and grab one, let's just pretend like you're going to plant it in the ground. So dig a hole roughly twice as wide as the root ball, set it in and you want to spread it out.

You can break those roots up a little bit.

Chances are it might be a little bit root bound

because again, they're very quick growers.

You want to backfill that hole,

you want to tamp it down, water it in so everything stabilizes.

Now if you planted that way, it's going to absolutely explode because it's not fake root

bound.

You've loosened it up, you've loosened up that soil, you've watered in that soil,

and it's doing really well. Now, when it's established, the care is really, really simple.
