Today on the murder sheet, we're going off script. This is something that we actually do with our Patreon patrons about twice a month.

But we thought we'd kind of try it out and maybe answer a few listener questions, you know, just off the cuff today.

So if things sound a little bit more more freewheeling than usual, it's because Kevin and I are working without a script, we're just sort of reading your questions and trying to answer them as best we can.

We got a lot going on lately in a few different cases. And so we thought it would be a good time to sort of step back and, you know, assess where we are, address where we are and just sort of take questions from people about what we're doing, what we've done and what we're going to do in the future.

My name is Ania Cain and I'm Kevin Greenland and this is the murder sheet, a weekly true crime podcast.

Ania and I connected over the Bergerchev murders in 1978, Unsolved Case involving the killings of four young restaurant employees.

Now we're looking to track restaurant homicides to help us understand the patterns of these crimes.

We created a spreadsheet of nearly a thousand eatery related killings, the murder sheet will be drawing on that data throughout season one to give you a deep dive into undercover crimes.

These are in no particular order. We just sort of randomly assembled them all into a Google sheet. So here we go.

I believe the first question you're going to read is from Michelle. Yes, okay. So this is a question from Michelle.

If my memory serves me correctly, I think in the past, Kevin has said he requested some documents through the Freedom of Information Act on the Bergerchev murders.

Have any of those documents come through yet? If so, any chance on an update on Bergerchev or since it's getting kind of late in the year, would those updates be in a November episode? Great question.

That's a great question, Michelle. You are absolutely correct. I actually filed a Freedom of Information Act request with the FBI all the way back in April of 2019.

You're tax dollars at work. Even before I met Anya and I am still awaiting for that request to be fulfilled.

The FBI was actually involved in the Bergerchev case very briefly, but it is likely that they may have some documents that would be really interesting to those of us who still care about the case.

Whenever I ask for an update is to when I should expect these documents at last, they always say oh, about six months.

As soon as we get them, we're certainly let you know. With that said, I will add that there are cases related to the Bergerchev case.

And in one of those cases, we recently obtained a few hundred pages of documents. And I don't mean to be too much of a tease, but there were some very interesting things in those documents.

And we will be covering those are next round of Bergerchev episodes, which will be in November.
