Hello, hello, and welcome.

So my husband and I, we are weird, objectively.

Most married couples spend early mornings in silence,

trying to load themselves up with enough caffeine

to get them through.

But me and mine, we prefer to dive straight

into philosophical, political, and moral debate.

First thing in the morning, you can keep the caffeine.

There's nothing that gets me more fired up

than the topic of politics.

This past weekend, we began our day

discussing the global authoritarianism,

more specifically, the rapid expansion thereof.

At some point, my husband offered that he believed

that technology, smartphones, tablets, QR codes,

coincided with the rapid growth of authoritarianism

around the world.

And after considering that point very deeply,

I said to him, you know what?

No, actually, technology didn't

seed worldwide authoritarianism.

I actually think that technology exposed it.
