1:01.3	Good news for iPhone from Counterpoint Research, though, it's kind of tough to work out.
1:07.6	First of all, iPhone shipments grew in the first quarter while the market as a whole shrank.
1:13.2	That is not the difficult part. Apple shipped more iPhones last quarter than it did for the same quarter a year earlier, while shipments for the smartphone market were in retreat.
1:22.6	No rocket science involved there. Shipments in the Asia-Pacific region were down 3% year-on-year, the Middle East was down 7%,
1:30.3	Europe was down 6%. Fairly gloomy all around, save Latin America, which was up 3% year-on-year.
1:39.7	Now, the part that's tough to figure out is how Counterpoint puts Apple in first place for the first
1:44.4	quarter. According to the firm, Apple led in Q1 for the first time with 21% market share and
1:51.8	9% year-on-year growth, driven by strong iPhone 17 demand, proactive supply chain management amid
1:59.0	memory constraints, and improved performance in China.
2:04.0	The thing is, Apple share matches second place Samsung.
