In this edition, I'm exploring the concept of queer ecology with interdisciplinary plant researcher Dr. M. M. Maren May Armstrong.

Over the past couple of years, I've encountered this term more often, so I really wanted to dig into what it means.

What I discovered is that viewing our history and perceived understanding of the natural world,

which in itself is a controversial term, through the lens of queer ecology can be mind-expanding.

It invites us to consider the beauty, complexity and strangeness of plants and animals in new

M lives in Glasgow, so I met them at their favourite local green space, Queen's Park, in the south side.

And as we approached the duck pond, I asked, what was it that drew you to plants in the first place?

I grew up in the countryside in Essex,
