Hello and welcome to your post-qualifying checkered flag podcast.

We actually recorded the original podcast a few hours ago,

but there has been a significant change to the starting grid for the Grand Prix here in Qatar.

So I've dragged myself out of bed, and I have to confess I am in my pajamas, because Max Verstappen,

who took pole position for the Qatar Grand Prix, has been given a penalty.

So I've managed to convince the BBC's F1 correspondent Andrew Benson and our league commentator Harry Benjamin to join me in this midnight discussion of penalties handed out by the stewards.

Andrew Max Verstappan took pole position under the lights here in Doha, Katar.

But at quarter past 11, he was summoned to the stewards with George Russell, the Mercedes driver, because tell us why.

Well, Russell talked about it after qualifying.

They sort of tangled on their slow laps. Russell claimed that he was doing the right speed and Vestappen

was going too slowly and Russell had to take avoiding action and went off into the gravel.

And the stewards looked at it and they've penalised Vestappen for driving unnecessarily slowly on a
