| 0:00.0 | Hey everybody Rob Maower here and today we are previewing |
| 0:09.8 | Tesla's second quarter earnings report coming up this Wednesday, July 22nd, after market |
| 0:13.8 | close. |
| 0:14.8 | We'll go through some of the things to watch for, what the market is currently expecting, as well |
| 0:18.1 | as my forecasts. |
| 0:19.6 | As we've talked a lot about the financials this quarter will be particularly closely watched because if |
| 0:23.8 | Tesla is able to post a gap profit for the second quarter, that will make them eligible for |
| 0:28.0 | S&P 500 inclusion. |
| 0:29.8 | With about 4.6 trillion dollars in assets under management tracking the S&P 500 index. If Tesla becomes eligible |
| 0:36.1 | and then is eventually added to the S&P 500, that could lead to about 26 million shares or more |
| 0:42.0 | needing to be purchased by those tracking funds to make sure |
| 0:44.7 | their equal weight on Tesla's stock. |
| 0:47.1 | Tesla's float share count is estimated to be right around 147 million shares, so taking |

| 0:56.4 | potentially significantly reduces the number of shares available for others to trade. |
| 1:00.3 | If enough of the 147 million shares of float don't want to sell at today's prices, |
| 1:05.0 | well that will lead to a price appreciation. |
| 1:07.0 | So all eyes this quarter are focused on that gap net income line. |
| 1:11.0 | With that being said, I think it makes sense to start off here going through the financials. |
| 1:14.8 | Normally at this point I go through the fact set consensus estimates because generally the media |
| 1:19.0 | uses that to report and that often shapes the headlines and sometimes the reaction on earnings. |
| 1:25.0 | But at least as of today the facts that numbers don't seem to be very updated. |
