Facebook group and I love her question. She always asked such good ones but this one I

wanted to spotlight for the episode today. She says I'm ready to invest in a

pressure canter and need recommendations. I'm determined to tackle canning

enough of one item for my family for the

year as my starter project. If you only canned one item, what would it be? I'm leaning toward

tomato products because we consume a lot of tomato products. This is such a good question and it's

one that I found myself asking my first year.

First of all, she asked for recommendations for a pressure canner.

And you'll get usually two main recommendations if you ask people who can.

There is the Presto pressure canner and the All-American pressure canner.

I'm sure there are lots of differences between the two.

I only own the Presto, so I can't

speak for both. But what you'll notice when you look at both options is the price tack. The All-American

canter is much more expensive than the Presto canner. And for me, I made my decision on the

Presto one because I was brand new at this canning thing and it was just really hard for me to justify spending that much when I had never pressure canned anything before.

And I have to say I'm in my eighth season gardening and so I guess it would be seven years that I have used that pressure canter and I have been completely happy with it.

Of course, I don't, I can't compare the top two brands. So I could be happier with the other

one. I don't know. But for me, it was a smarter decision to go with the lower price point just

to make sure that I was happy with it and I could do it. And that worked out well for me.

But for your question,

if you could can one item, what would you can? For me, it was green beans because that was the one thing I felt like I could eat a lot of and provide a lot of for our family for the year.
