| 0:06.5 | The answer I've come up with really isn't all that specific to podcasting. |

| 0:15.4 | To start a podcast, you don't need a fancy microphone. |
| 0:18.9 | You don't need a professional grade digital audio workstation. |
| 0:22.6 | What you need, ultimately, is to know in your heart that you suck. |
| 0:28.6 | And that you're gonna suck for a long time. |
| 0:31.5 | I know that's not inspirational, and I'm sorry if I'm the first person to tell you that. |
| 0:35.6 | But seriously, if you're starting a new creative project, you're terrible at it. |
| 0:40.8 | Pretty much without exception, everyone is awful when they start something new. |
| 0:45.7 | And not just in podcasting, but in all creative works. |
| 0:49.5 | Kubrick wasn't producing his best films when he was a teenager. |
| 0:53.2 | Monet didn't produce his best works the first time he picked up a paintbrush. |
| 0:57.2 | Even Mozart had to practice. |
| 0:59.6 | He was young, but he still had to learn. |
| 1:02.3 | So when he first start, you're gonna suck. |
| 1:06.4 | And the worst part of it is that if you want to start a podcast, then you're probably |
| 1:10.4 | a fan of podcasts. |
| 1:12.6 | Really good podcasts. |
| 1:14.4 | So your ear has become quite discerning as you've been listening to the end results |
