Today, as Russian tanks roll in, Kiev prepares itself for war.

When tens of thousands of Russian troops moved into place on the border with Ukraine in November last year,

it was clear the pressure was building.

And our concern is that Russia may make the serious mistake of attempting to rehash what

it undertook back in 2014, what it had been asked, forces along the border.

Kremlin became much more aggressive and that is why we are worried about what can come next.

The Kremlin wanted guarantees that its neighbor, the second largest country in Europe,

wouldn't be allowed to join NATO. Guarantees that NATO wasn't prepared to give.

Still, the Russian President Vladimir Putin insisted that he wasn't planning to start a war.

Do we want war? Of course we don't. That is exactly why we put forward proposals to open negotiations.

Now, Putin has sent troops into denets and luhansk, two regions of eastern Ukraine that are controlled

by Russian-backed separatists. I think it will go down in history books as a turning point in

postwar history. In France, Germany, the UK, the US and beyond, leaders have been quick to condemn

their Russian counterpart in the strongest terms. It is precisely because the states are so high

that Putin's venture in Ukraine must fail. From the Guardian, I'm Hannah Moore. Today in focus,
