Summary

An inquiry into the death of Dawn Sturgess, the woman who died after she came into contact with poison intended for a former Russian agent, has reached the conclusion that President Putin was “morally responsible for her death”.

Adam is joined by Marie Lennon the host of the BBC’s podcast Crime Next Door: The Salisbury Poisonings and news correspondent, Tom Symonds to explore what else the inquiry found out.

Plus, Alex drops by to unpack why the government has postponed four mayoral elections that were set to take place next year. They say they need more time to prepare for the changes, but some of the candidates preparing to run in opposition have accused the government of being afraid of poor results.

More specifically, this was the inquiry into the death of the local woman Don Sturgis, who thought she was spraying perfume onto her wrist, but it was actually a fake perfume bottle containing the nerve agent Novichok, which Russian agents had used to poison the former Russian agent Sergei Scripal, who was living in Salisbury, along with his daughter, Yulia, who was also poisoned as well. And so this was a report by Lord Hughes. And the big headline is that Lord

Hughes has said, Vladimir Putin, the Russian president, bears moral responsibility for what

happened to Don Sturgis and what happened in the town of Salisbury seven years ago.

Yeah, we were the first team there. Absolutely. Which was quite a day. Yeah, I'll get you to tell us about that later on. But also, we're joined by Marie Lennon, who is host of the Crime Next Door of the Salisbury Poisonings podcast. Hello, Marie. Hi. And you also have covered this story for years and years, haven't you? Yeah, I'm a locally based journalist based in Wiltshire. So yes, this was a huge story for us, and I've covered it since. And Marie, just explain how Don Sturgis got caught up in this in the first place.
