Summary

I once had an event in my old office.

A man that ran a multi-billion dollar company in finance came to talk to some of my guests.

He talked about having to take a step back in his company, so he sold some of his cars, watches, and real estate.

He did this so he could have the capital necessary to build his company to a multi-billion dollar company.

This man needed to take a couple of steps back and advanced the money he was living on into the most capable hands to help him advance his company where he needed to go.

The same applies for everything you do in your life.

Sometimes you have a take a step back to reasses where you're trying to go and sacrifice today's luxuries or comforts for the benefit of tomorrow.

As a result of doing this, he was able to find killers in each area he was needing and was able to sell his company for a billion + valuation.

That's how you manage a team and lead from the front, and sometimes it takes you going to the back of the line and feeding those first who are the most hungry and capable to make things happen that you can't.

and a gentleman that ran a billion dollar finance company came and spoke to our Apex members

0:35.6

there. And he was telling us, this was probably seven years ago,

0:39.2

but he was telling us that at some point, within the last three years of his career at that time,

0:44.3

he had to take a step back and lower his income in order to pour more money into the company and

0:51.5

grow it. And at the time, I thought, wow, that's, that's crazy. And he was

0:54.9

talking about putting payroll and putting his people first and selling his cars and can even

refinancing his house. But ultimately, that led to the billion dollar finance company that he

eventually sold since then. So why do I tell you this? Because so many people think business is always

forward. And a lot of times, if not every time, there's going to be seasons and moves and downs

1:18.9

where you have to take a few steps back in order to advance. Now, let's talk about that, right?

1:24.3

Like in football, quarterback hikes the ball, takes a few steps back, gets into the pocket, throws the ball down the field for 30, 40, 50, 60 yards.

1:31.7

But he's got to get back into that pocket so that he can get his view right, so that he can assess the situation and make the decision to get the ball into the hands of the most eligible to receiver that can get them closest to the goal line.
