Summary

This week, Kate reads from listener-submitted stories about the embarrassing (and now hilarious) ways in our youth that we tried to make people jealous and/or acutely aware of how well we're doing following a romantic rejection. 0:31.9	And if you're new here, this is a single-hosted long-form podcast.
0:37.8	But beyond that, Be There In 5, the name, it started as my namesate company that kind of
0:41.6	put me on the map in the first place, I don't know, six years ago, that was when I invented
0:47.4	the Remindor mat, a Remindor Dormat.
0:49.6	And then I kind of pivoted Be There In 5, the name into more of a commentary role, as
0:54.2	I wrote a book about social media, as I started this podcast.
0:57.8	And now here we are, hundreds of episodes later, weeks, if not months, of me talking.
1:04.0	And depending on the day, I kind of will describe this podcast differently.
1:08.8	At its core, the name is really about me being a time-optimist, always running a little
1:12.7	behind texting my friends Be There In 5, for what I think are the right reasons, because
1:17.3	I'm genuinely curious, and I'm always deep-diving everything I see.
1:21.0	And I just can't skim, and I just can't do things quickly, and it makes me run a little
1:26.0	behind sometimes.
1:27.5	And a few years ago, my whole life, I've been a big consumer of TV music, movie celebrity
1:31.9	gossip, in this era, now influencers, all these things.
