Well, while we stand today as we listen to the reading of the text today from 1 Kings chapter 17, verse 7 through verse 16 in the NIV version of the scriptures, you'll notice there these words.

Sometime later, the brook dried up because there had been no rain in the land and then the word of the Lord came to him go at once to Zarifith in the region of Sidon and stay there

I have directed a whittle there to supply you with food and so he went to Zarifith. And when he came to the town gate,

a widow was there gathering sticks. And he called to her and asked, would you give me a little water

in a jar so that I may have a drink? And as she was going to get it, he called bring me please a piece of bread as surely as the

lord your god lives she replied i don't have any bread only a handful of flour in a jar and a little

olive oil in a jug i'm gathering a few sticks to take home and make a meal for myself

and my son that we may eat it and die. And Elijah said to her, don't be afraid. Go home and do as you

have said. But first, make me a small loaf of bread for me, from what you have, from what you have and bring it to me and then make

something for yourself and your son for this is what the lord the god of israel says the jar of

flour will not be used up and the jug of oil will not run dry until the day the Lord sends rain on the earth.

And she went away and did as Elijah had told her.

And so there was food every day for Elijah and for the woman and her family.

For the jar of flour was not used up, and the jug of oil did not run dry in keeping with the word of the Lord spoken by Elijah.

And here this whittle of Zarifith is one of approximately 730 unnamed women in scripture. Listen, it's not so important that people know your name is that his name is made great. And there are many instances in scriptures where both

men go anonymously a certain man and we don't know his name, a certain woman, and we don't know her name.

We don't know this widow woman's name and we don't necessarily need to know her name. We need to know the example

of what she did and what her life message speaks to us. So who she is is not as important as what
