Hey guys, Guy here. We are just over a week away from the NFL draft. We're also just over a week away from the 49ers organized team activity practices. OTAs start on May 27th, and that's a week away from players beginning to arrive, report for OTAs.

And we don't have a Brock Purdy contract.

What are the chances that this gets weird?

If this were 2024 or 2023 or a month ago, I'd say the chances are low.

But it's not a month ago.

And we saw Brandon and Iuk last year and we saw Nick Posts of the year before that.

And you might say what I would have said a month ago, which is, but this is Brock Purdy.

This is the quarterback.

It's going to be different.

Maybe.

Maybe not. But at this point,

given the recent history, you'd have to bet against it happening sooner rather than later.

Maybe the possibility exists that they just want to see what happens with the draft. If you don't sign him now, then you at least leave the door open to say, trade a few picks

for an expensive player who already has his contract set in stone,

and then you work Brock Purdy's contract around that.

Now, that's not going to happen.

The 49ers are not in a position to take on a bunch of money for a guy that was just signed

eight months ago.

He's on the wrong side of 30, which, you know, is 30.1 for a football player.

It just, it doesn't make sense for this point of the 49ers kind of situation to spend money on that guy. They're not a corner,

but they're not an aging and often traded and expensive cornerback away from winning the
