| 0:10.5 | Like, what if the foundational text of fantasy wasn't fascinated with European mythology and religion, |
| 0:16.5 | but was instead inspired by the many cultures and mythologies in Africa? |
| 0:21.0 | And what would that mean about what Dungeons & Dragons looks like? |
| 0:25.0 | But I'm also thinking about what it's like to be a player in 2021 and beyond. |
| 0:29.5 | So I figured I'd put that to good use and talk to those who are pushing the game forward. |
| 0:33.5 | I remember introducing the Punch Bowl to the Join the Party feed, |
| 0:36.5 | because I wanted to talk shop with other Dungeons & Dragons media creators. |
| 0:40.5 | It was 2017, and the genre was just emerging. |
| 0:43.5 | Critical Role was just kind of like a streaming thing that no one really understood, |
| 0:48.5 | and the Adventure Zone was just getting its sea legs under it. |

| 0:54.5 | Everyone and their mom has the Dungeons & Dragons podcast, |
| 0:57.5 | and maybe some people are moving away from D&D |

| 1:06.5 | but it also pushes everyone to make themselves stand out. |
| 1:09.5 | And no one has stood out in 2020 and beyond more than three black halflings. |
