On Monday, May 8th, this year's Pulitzers were announced.

In addition to the many journalistic prizes awarded, the Pulitzers also granted honors

in drama, music, and books.

Three of the titles on the Times Book Review's Pop Ten Books of the Year were winners this time around.

Wasu's state true when the Pulitzer for Memoir Autobiography

and for the first time, two novels were awarded the Pulitzer for Fiction,

trust by Hernán Diaz and Demon Copperhead by Barbara King-Sulf.

On this week's episode, we have a conversation with two of those authors,

Wasu and then after the break, we check in with Hernán Diaz,

who's currently on the road promoting the newly released paperback version of his novel Trust.

I'm joined today by Wasu.

Wasu is a staff writer at the New Yorker.

Was a good friend of my colleague, John Caramana,

one of the Times' pop music critics, and I bring this up

because a two of them recorded a fantastic episode of the pop cast one year ago

in May 2022, in which they talked about what it means to be a collector

of pop culture items in ephemera.

And why the reason he's here is the author of the Memoir State True,

which is just one of Pulitzer Prize.
