There are 50.4 million students in America. Public schools employ 3.1 million full-time teachers. 6.5% of the students drop out, but 68.4% go to college.

$70 billion is federally being spent on public schools in 2015.

$11,600 per student is how much we spend a year.

There are more jails and prisons in the U.S. than colleges and universities.

We spend $31,286 per inmate on a national average.

In New York State, we spent $60,000 per inmate.

In New York City, we spend $167,731 on each inmate.

In 2012, we spent $850,000 to $1.4 million a year on each active soldier in Afghanistan.

Are we spending our money right?

Public schools are important.

Are we putting America's future in our best interests?

We're going to break that down right now and talk about some fun experiences that me and Marie Cecil Anderson from the Reformed Hors had while we were in public school.

And then we're going to talk to a teacher, Ms. Julia Johns, and talk about the time that she had when

she was teaching in school. She has since retired from the profession.
