Thanks for joining us. First up, we've got the first person charged with the offensive rioting over the UK disorder that we saw in the last couple of weeks.

This comes in Sunderland, a day after the judge

call for prosecutors to push for longer sentences. I mean, I totally understand why the government

decided they had to do this because they had to stop the riots and they had to kind of, you know,

knit them in the bud, as it were. We can talk about all the reasons why some people have been

saying that they're very angry

with the way the country is being run and all of that but they do seem to be handing out some

pretty stiff sentences don't they do mike and i think there's a real concern here because

for example this this woman who wrote this nasty and vicious comment on Facebook about blowing up at a mosque,

neither have the will nor the explosives to do anything like that.

Now, me, you and our families and the community at risk from people who carry knives or burgl up our houses.

Now, these are the state's duties to protect us.

Now the latest information we have is that the

only less than 30% of people caught with knives go to jail and the average sentence is 7.7 months for carrying a knife which is literally half of what this Sweeney woman has received for writing a Facebook post.

Now I think most people would think, well, we need to get people who carry knives and burgle houses,

rob people and rape women off the street first rather than dealing with Facebook posts.

Exactly. And we saw yesterday a report that came out in which it said that career criminals actually

are now spending less and less time in jail

because so many of them are committing as many as 30, 40, 50 crimes

and still not ever getting a custodial sentence.
