Right. So most modern philosophy is premised on the idea that you just can't assume a giant metaphysical system.

It doesn't mean metaphysics aren't true. It means that, well, how do we know that all these metaphysical claims just are the case?

And so Thomism is thus a classical foundationalist system overall in terms of its approach to Givens. for example, the peripatetic axiom, there's nothing in the intellect that's not first in the senses.

And a modern philosopher would say, well, is that truth itself also in the senses?

Right.

So that's what I was talking about.

tomism as a dogmatic system or a dogmatic philosophy um that's why uh that's why it's hard
