But we begin with a ghostly army,

the psychological warfare perpetrated by the Americans in Vietnam back in the 1960s

Alex Last has been speaking to a veteran of the SIOPS mission Operation Wandering Soul and a warning to the easily spooked, this tape is a bit

creepy. In the late 1960s, the jungles of Vietnam echoed to the sound of a nightmare.

This was a ghost of a nightmare.

This was a ghost tape,

a part of Operation Wandering Soul, a form of psychological warfare

developed by the United States during the Vietnam War, especially recorded to prey on long-held Vietnamese beliefs.

The basic idea behind the ghost tape, or the ghost tapes, the different versions,

was that in that culture you must be buried according to a certain protocol.
