Hey, it's Jeff Eman here, and Beth and I are currently on our season break, and it feels great.

I've grown a big bushy beard, and Beth's got a sunburn.

Anyways, so a couple of years ago, I did this story for KCRW.

And the piece, it's called Psychic Blob, and I made it for KCRW's 24-hour radio race.

The radio this really fun. And so,

recording, to editing, to scoring, to publishing all in a single day.

It's ridiculous and it's really fun.

And so back in 2014, I signed up for the the radio race and the topic I chose to address in my piece was well,

maybe it's just a little bit more dangerous than it should have been.

But looking back, it's actually a favorite piece of mine.

It's just four minutes long, and it's never been on this feed before,

at least not until now.

And I recently learned that the Fokke at KCRW,

when they listen to my submission, they were concerned that I might die, or that was going to wind up in the hospital or get a nasty infection, all for the sake of this radio contest.

But here's the thing.

I won second place.

And the prize money that I got more than covered the nice bottle of whiskey

that I wound up giving my, well I guess you'd call her my surgeon.

Okay now because Hereby Monsters is now a part of KCRW, it means that I can't enter the radio race anymore.

And that makes me sad because I love the radio race. But even though I

can't enter, you can, and I think you should. The race is happening on August 19th. That's a Saturday. It's just $10 to enter and there are cash

prizes. You don't have to be a radio professional to enter. All experience levels are welcome.
