two of psychiatric emergencies by Dr. Shane Agiford and Dr. Les Zun. This episode will talk about

how to treat patients who are depressed without being suicidal, how to interact with the patient's

family members to do the best thing for the patient, and Dr. Zun's recommendations for drugs and dosages

for agitated patients, as well as a few other topics. In part one of this series, Dr. Zun disclosed

consulting work for Teva Pharmaceuticals and Alexa Pharmaceuticals, and that disclosure still applies.

may be going out a little bit of a hiatus. In the next week I will be deploying to

Afghanistan for four and a half months to help staff the ED of a well-established hospital.

Believe it or not, the person I am replacing has told me that he has excellent internet access, so I may be able to keep recording episodes in my downtime.

However, nothing is guaranteed regarding internet access and the time I'll have available,

so you may not be hearing anything for me in Basic for the next few months.

I am scheduled to return in mid-February, and my new assignment is at San Antonio Military Medical Center, where I did my residency.
