psychedelics, using LSD, micro dosing, silicibin, this kind of thing in

therapeutic work and although I usually like to answer such

questions it's not my area of expertise I can look at the research I can look at

the literature and you know sort of

digest it and communicate it to you but you know that can only go so far so I

thought I would have a expert on the podcast Elizabeth Nielsen to talk about this topic since so many people have so many questions about it.

Thank you so much. So can you introduce yourself to the podcast listeners please?

Yeah, absolutely. My name is Elizabeth Nielsen. I'm a psychologist. I'm based in New York City. And I do a couple of things in my professional work.

I have worked for about six years now on clinical trials of psychedelic assisted treatments.

Those are FDA approved trials taking place at major institutions.

I've worked on trials of silocybin for alcohol use

disorder, trials of silocybin for treatment of resistance and depression as

well as trials of MDMA for post-traumatic stress disorder.

So I've got a fairly big background in terms of providing therapy and research trials

and also training other therapists to do that work.

And then outside of that work in private practice, I also work with people, clients, patients, the public to address some harm reduction issues around psychedelic use and other settings, as well as help clinicians get educated about what's going on in the

field of psychedelic research and how they can have conversations with their

clients about their decisions to use

psychedelics or not use psychedelics or what those experiences might have been like.
