1846. Do I really need to tell you much about Poe if you're a faithful

listener to this show? How about a few random facts? He was likely named after Edgar

the Earl of Gloucester's son in Shakespeare's King Lear.

He was an orphan, then taken in by the Allen family, but upon the death of John Allen,

while Edgar was living in poverty, he was disinherited from their estate.

His reputation, post-mortem, was almost ruined forever by literary of the author filled with lies painting him as a womanizing madman drug-addled and
