Hello everyone, welcome to Sudapod, the weekly horror podcast. I'm Alistair, your host.

This week's story was originally published in the November 1939 issue of Weird Tales.

As this was originally published as a novelette, and it's a bit long for an episode of Sudapod,

starved to turn this into an abridgment project, to see if we could trim out some of the fat and

keep the core of the story. We'll be publishing both the abridged and unabridged texts for you

on over on our website. If you want to judge for yourself how we did.

Gigi Pendoves was the nom de plume of Gladys scored in Trenery. Time has erased most traces of

her other than her stories, though there are some excellent theories over on the Teller of Weird

Tales blog. Gigi Trenery contributed yesterday, today and tomorrow to the horn book for November

1931. Otherwise, all of her known stories were in Ahogasy All-Story magazine, the Magic Carpet

magazine, Oriental Stories and Weird Tales, all from 1926 to 1939. Her last three stories in the

Unique magazine were published posthumously as Gladys G Trenery died on August 1, 1938.

The sad event is lost among the deaths of Robert E Howard and HP Lovecraft from the previous two

years, and for me to say anything else would be to belabor a point I feel.
