Hello everybody, Alistair here. A couple of notes about this upcoming episode. First off, we're actually

offering it to you in two formats. The first has a soundbed called shortwave numbers

under it, which as you'll see massively

enhances the thematic experience of the episode. It's been put together by

Sean, our editor, and he's done just an amazing job on it. It actually also runs a little bit longer

than the episode does itself.

So stick around because this type of oral soundscaping,

this type of mood enhancement, if you will,

for a story is something which some of our favorite

shows do and Sean's done an incredible job with this so give it a shot.

So we're offering you choices because choices are good. If you do choose to listen to the one with

shortwave numbers on it, a quick note about that. What Sean has done is

assemble the soundscape comprising of number stations, static, Morse code, and EVP, electronic voice phenomenon.

In other words, he's basically taken two of my all-time favorite bits of paracycology and

turned them into one of my favorite types of music and Sonic interaction.

EVP, electronic voice phenomenon is when you leave a tape recorder running in what is apparently

a room which on your end and ask questions and leave gaps for the answers and sometimes answers appear when you

play it back. Like everything in the field it is open to massively questionable amounts of

validity or lack of validity. It's all up in the air plates spinning and

no one knows what they're spinning on all that kind of stuff. But I've always
