As it's a new year we're specifically showcasing some stories which have just entered the public domain.

Our author this week doesn't need much of an introduction.

It's the indomitable Dame Agatha Mary Clarissa Christie, born in 1890, died in 1976.

She had quite a few publications during her lifetime.

Indeed, if Wikipedia is to be believed, the only author who sells eclipsed hers in monetary terms is

William Shakespeare.

And he had a bit of a head start.

This week's story, The Mystery of the Blue Jar, was first published in the UK in issue 233 of the Grand Magazine

in July 1924 and in the US in Metropolitan magazine the same year.
