get started psalms 92 through lord willing psalm 95 tonight and uh really looking forward to the

theme that seems to be woven into the fabric of these psalms they sort of tie together uh their placement

that uh they're arranged together in the book of psalms seems to be real fitting

as I think you'll see why here in a moment so why don't we pray and we'll ask God to bless our time together

in his word if you would join with me. Loving Heavenly Father, we're so thankful to you for our midweek Bible study where we can just come to this beautiful church building that you've given us and

put aside all the busyness of the day, all the cares and the affairs of our busy lives,

and they are busy.

And just settle our hearts and focus our attention on you and your word and that which

you have for us in your word.

Lord, we're hungry and we're thirsty.

That's how we're posturing ourselves before you tonight, knowing that only you can satiate that hunger and that thirst that we

have. Lord, we look forward to these times together in your word because there's this anticipation

that you're going to speak into our lives as you always do. very specifically and even personally and so

Lord that's what we're asking you to do tonight Lord we're so thankful to you for

the book of Psalms it is such a rich blessing such a a rich and deep study in your word and so Lord we just want to commit to you

our time together in your word and ask your blessing on it in Jesus name amen all right

let's get started Psalm 92 it's a Psalm and we're told that it is a song for the Sabbath

day. It is good, verse one, to give thanks to the Lord and to sing praises to your name almost high to declare your loving kindness in the morning and your faithfulness every night on an instrument of ten strings on the lute and on the harp with harmonious sound. Interesting contrast between the stringed

instrument and the harp. The stringed instrument is a instrument that is used for energetic praise and worship.

And the harp, by contrast, is an instrument that is more solemn in its worship and praise.

I mean, two opposite ends of the spectrum that I think speak to how it is that

in our worship, in our praise, sometimes it's exuberant and energetic and passionate, and other times
